Avonsleigh Berries is family business started in 1980 by Frank Edlinger and his family. Frank’s vision was to bring a childhood favourite fruit, Blueberries, to the Australian public.
Since then Avonsleigh Berries has been successfully suppling blueberries to greengrocers, U-pickers and the local community through farm gate sales. The Sour cherries are only available for U-pickers and farm gate sales.
Harald and Martine strive to bring the very best fruit to you. Through means of good farming practices of natural and organic means. Frank had established the farm through good farming habits and practices, so the next step to a more natural fruit is to step back in time.

The Gourmet Fruit
Not that long ago, Blueberries were new and were described as “The Gourmet Fruit”. In those days it was primarily the Europeans who bought them. Australians were just not familiar with this fruit, (just as they were not familiar with pizzas!)
Frank and his family planted the first field in 1982 and soon followed with second in 1985, named the “Old” and “New” fields respectively. Selling to the wholesale market and local green grocers, the family business grew and it commenced exporting to Europe, which it did successfully for a number of years before freight costs became increasingly expensive.
This forced a rethink of the business and the birth of U-pick (or pick your own). The first of the Sour cherries were then planted to complement the blueberries.
Many of our clientele would remember these early years.
